Marian Voicu — Founder & Author of UDAIMON
The author behind the horological work.
UDAIMON was founded by Marian Voicu from a simple conviction:
A timepiece can be more than an instrument for measuring time. It can become a vessel for meaning.
His work brings together design, technology, entrepreneurship and craftsmanship in an independent practice focused on creating one-of-one horological works.
For Marian, the creative process starts with understanding the story behind the object — and finding the visual and material language through which that story can be expressed.
From Design to Authorship
Marian’s background spans product design, technology, entrepreneurship and business.
For more than a decade, he worked directly across product design and user experience, developing a deep understanding of how ideas become tangible products and experiences.
Later, his work expanded into product leadership, technology, operations and entrepreneurship — building teams, products and businesses at the intersection of technology and human needs.
This multidisciplinary perspective became an important part of the UDAIMON practice.
It allows him to approach a timepiece not only as an object of watchmaking, but as a designed work with a story, a purpose and a distinct identity.
Creating UDAIMON
UDAIMON emerged from Marian’s desire to create objects differently.
Instead of designing for a market segment, a trend or a production run, he chose to work from the opposite direction:
one person, one story, one creation.
The result is a practice where each commission starts with a conversation and develops through concept, design, material exploration and handcraft.
The watch is the final expression.
The story is where it begins.
The Role of the Author
At UDAIMON, Marian is involved in the creative direction of every horological work.
He explores the story behind the commission, develops its conceptual direction and defines how its meaning can be translated into form, materials, symbols and details.
The creation is then brought to life through a combination of artisanal craftsmanship, specialist expertise and Swiss mechanical watchmaking.
This relationship between authorship and craft is central to UDAIMON.
The author creates the language.
The craft gives it form.
The owner gives it meaning.
A Different Approach to Watchmaking
Marian does not see UDAIMON as a conventional watch brand built around collections and repeated models.
The maison is intentionally structured around individual works.
Some creations may share a technical foundation or certain materials. But their identity comes from the story they were created to carry.
This allows every commission to remain personal, distinctive and irreproducible
Selected Works & Collaborations
Over time, Marian has developed horological works around personal stories, relationships, milestones and symbols, as well as selected collaborations with established brands.
From commemorative creations to automotive-inspired concepts, each project explores the same question:
How can meaning become an object?
Begin a Conversation
Every UDAIMON creation begins somewhere.
Sometimes with a story.
Sometimes with an idea.
Sometimes with a single object or symbol that already means something.
If you have something you would like to turn into a horological work, Marian would like to hear it.
